What is Outdoor Learning?

Well it has different meanings to everyone, but to me it’s being inspired by your surroundings. I found learning as a child much easier when I could see it in the flesh or learn by doing. It’s great to learn in lots of different ways and outdoor learning offers another dimension to the classroom.

Science is happening all around us, all the time outside and so it’s an ideal place to learn about it. This can be done either by the taking the given surroundings and providing cues or having hands on equipment which can help to understand a given topic. Equipment can be great but must allow a multitude of outcomes otherwise it becomes a repetitive object with no learning.
